| The technology has finally arrived to non-invasively
soften wrinkles and tighten skin without surgery. Dr. Renato
Calabria is introducing the Thermage ® procedure to his
practice in Beverly Hills and Palm Desert Offices.
Who are Candidates?
The ideal candidate for Thermage ® is a woman
in her mid thirties to mid forties who has mild facial laxity,
brow ptosis slight jowling and small neckbands. Our candidates
are not quite ready for a facelift, and would appreciate a
subtle facial rejuvenation that requires minimal or no downtime.
How is Thermage ® performed?
The Thermage ® procedure is performed with mild
sedation or topical anesthetics and oral pain medications.
Thermage ® , an FDA approved technology, transfers energy
into the deeper layers of the skin, causing the collagen to
tighten over time. This procedure can be performed independently
or in combination with other procedures, such as Botox ®
or soft tissue fillers, to tighten the skin and smooth facial
wrinkles.
How long does it take?
The procedure can take anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes,
depending on the size of area that is being treated. Additional
time will be required for skin preparation prior to the procedure.
When will I see results?
Recently published data conducted by medical researchers,
show that there is measurable tightening over two to six months
after a single treatment session.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
A single treatment has produced good results in a
significant number of patients, however a second may be required
to achieve optimal results for the skin.
How long will the effects of Thermage ® last?
The Thermage ® procedure often causes immediate
tightening in the collagen structure with additional tightening
over time. Unpublished results of his new technology indicate
that the results may last 18 months or longer, depending on
the patient's natural aging process and lifestyle choices.
Beyond this, the technology is too new to determine the final
length of correction.
How long before I can return to my normal activities?
Most people return to regular activities a day or
two after the Thermage ® procedure. Some people experience
mild redness (like a sunburn), but this usually disappears
within several hours to 24 hours. There is no special care
needed for the treatment, but sunscreen is recommended as
part of good skin care.
Is it safe?
He Thermage ® is very safe. Although it is possible
skin damage can occur, this advanced treatment has been studied
carefully in hundreds of patients, with minimal reports of
lasting effects.
What kind of results can I expect?
In a broad-based study, patients describe their results
as the following: 20% - excellent, 60% - moderate to good;
10% - a mild improvement; 10% - no improvement at all. Overall,
this has been a very successful procedure that is growing
in popularity.
